The high-level symposium on the private economy held on Monday, the first of such kind since 2018, sent a warm and encouraging signal to the private sector, and contributed to promoting the high-quality development of the sector. It also garnered widespread attention among Western media, with some highlighting China's strong support for the private sector.  

2月17日，民营企业座谈会召开。这是自2018年以来，中央再次专门召开民营企业座谈会，表明中国正释放支持民营经济发展的信号，旨在促进民营经济高质量发展。本次座谈会引起了西方媒体的广泛关注，凸显了中国政府对民营经济发展的支持。

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on Monday urged efforts to promote the healthy and high-quality development of the country's private sector.

中共中央总书记习近平在会上强调，要促进民营经济健康发展、高质量发展。

The private sector enjoys broad prospects and great potential on the new journey in the new era. It is a prime time for private enterprises and entrepreneurs to give full play to their capabilities, Xi said when attending a symposium on private enterprises in Beijing.

习近平在会上表示，“新时代新征程民营经济发展前景广阔、大有可为，广大民营企业和民营企业家大显身手正当其时。”

Huawei's Ren Zhengfei, BYD's Wang Chuanfu, New Hope's Liu Yonghao, Will Semiconductor's Yu Renrong, Unitree Robotics' Wang Xingxing, and Xiaomi's Lei Jun put forward their opinions and advice on the development of the private sector, the Xinhua News Agency reported.

据新华社报道，会上，任正非、王传福、刘永好、虞仁荣、王兴兴、雷军等6位来自不同领域行业的民营企业负责人代表先后发言，汇报成绩、分析形势、展望未来、提出建议。

Chinese animated blockbuster "Ne Zha 2" has dethroned Disney's 2024 picture "Inside Out 2" to become the highest-grossing animated movie of all time globally.

《哪吒之魔童闹海》累计票房超迪士尼2024年上映的《头脑特工队2》,登顶全球动画电影票房榜。

As of Tuesday evening, the film's worldwide earnings, including presales, surpassed 12.319 billion yuan (about 1.72 billion U.S. dollars), according to data from ticketing platform Maoyan.

据猫眼票务平台的数据，截至2月18日晚，这部电影的全球票房（含预售）突破123.19亿元人民币。

This milestone comes just 20 days after its release on Jan. 29 during the Chinese New Year and a mere day after it entered the all-time global box office top 10.

The achievement adds to an impressive list of records for the film, including being the first to gross 1 billion U.S. dollars in a single market and the first non-Hollywood title to join the coveted billion-dollar club. Current projections from Maoyan and box office tracker Beacon suggest that the film is on track to surpass 15 billion yuan in total domestic earnings.

China ranks 2nd in global soft power index

China has become the world's second most influential soft power nation after the United States, according to the sixth annual Global Soft Power Index released here by Brand Finance on Thursday.

根据“品牌金融”咨询公司20日发布的《2025年全球软实力指数》，中国的软实力仅次于美国，排名第二。今年是该公司第6次进行此排名。

The report shows that China surpassed Britain to claim second place with a score of 72.8 out of 100, marking its highest-ever ranking. The country demonstrated statistically significant growth across six of the eight soft power pillars and two-thirds of measured attributes, driven by initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative, an increased emphasis on sustainability, and the strengthening of domestic brands.

报告显示，中国以72.8分（满分为100分）的成绩首度超越去年第二的英国，升至全球第二，创造了中国在该全球指数报告中的历史最高记录。中国在8大软实力支柱中的6项，以及三分之二的具体指标上均实现显著增长。报告表示，这些增长得益于中国推动“一带一路”倡议、加强可持续发展、国内品牌影响力持续增强等。

Chinese scientists discover oldest bird fossils

A set of fossils discovered in East China's Fujian province has been identified as the only known unambiguous record of Jurassic birds, pushing back the origin of birds to the late Middle Jurassic period and rewriting the history of avian evolution.

近日，在福建省发现的一组化石被确认为目前最确切的且唯一的侏罗纪鸟类，将鸟类起源时间推至中侏罗晚期，改写了鸟类进化的历史。

After a year of restoration and research, a joint team from the Institute of Vertebrate Paleontology and Paleoanthropology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Fujian Institute of Geological Survey confirmed that the set of fossils discovered in November 2023 in Daxi village of Fujian's Zhenghe county belong to a bird from the late Middle Jurassic period.

该化石于2023年11月在福建政和大溪盆地发现，经过长达一年的修复和研究分析，中国科学院古脊椎动物与古人类研究所和福建省地质调查研究院组成的联合团队确定了该化石属于中侏罗晚期的鸟类。
