wind

风。普通用语，指任何一种风。

例如：

There's no wind today.

今天没有风。

breeze

微风，和风。指风速不大且令人愉快的风。

例如：

He stood at the stem and enjoyed the breeze.

他站在船头，尽享和风的吹拂。

blizzard

暴风雪。

例如：

They were caught in the blizzard.

他们被暴风雪困住了。 

gale

狂风。指风力大，具有破坏性的风。

例如：

The ship was wrecked in the gale.

船在这场狂风中遇难了。

hurricane

飓风。指比 gale 风力还大，破坏性还强的风。

例如：

The whole town was destroyed by the hurricane.

整座小镇都被飓风毁掉了。

storm

暴风。指比hurricane 风力小的风，但常伴有雨或雪。故译为暴风雨或暴风雪。

例如：

There is often a flood when there is a storm.

一有暴风雨就常会发生洪灾。
