那么，“开门红”用英语怎么表达呢？

开门红一词最早可以追溯到宋代，当时的中原，房屋进门处都有一块门墙。逢年过节，人们总爱往门墙上贴点红色福字、红纸门神啥的，以期开门见红，来年风调雨顺。

而放在现代语境中，开门红常用于表达在新年伊始或一项工作启动初期就能够获得显著成绩的期待。

那“开门红”翻译成英文怎么说呢？

采用直译的方法明显不合适，可以先转换理解为“良好的开端”，然后翻译为：to make/ get a good/ an auspicious beginning/ start，其中的动词make/get可以灵活替换为be off to或kick off to等。例如：

China’s economy was off to an auspicious start in the first quarter, with its gross domestic product growing by 6.7 percent, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on April 15. 

国家统计局4月15日发布的数据显示，一季度国内生产总值同比增长6.7%，中国经济开局良好。

也可以说：get off to a flying start，例如：

She got off to a flying start in the match, gaining several points in the first few minutes.
