The 16th BRICS Summit kicked off on Tuesday in Russia's Kazan, marking the first face-to-face gathering among leaders of the grouping after its historic expansion.

10月22日，金砖国家领导人第十六次会晤在俄罗斯喀山开幕，这是金砖国家领导人在“金砖大家庭”实现历史性扩员后首度线下聚首。

During the three-day summit, the leaders are expected to forge consensus on consolidating joint efforts for common development, push for vibrant multilateral cooperation, and offer their wisdom for building a better world for all.

China successfully launches Tianping-3 satellite

China launched a Long March 6 carrier rocket on Tuesday morning to deploy three multifunctional satellites into space, according to the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation.

据中国航天科技集团有限公司介绍，10月22日上午，中国使用长征六号运载火箭，成功将三颗多功能卫星发射升空。

The company said in a news release that the rocket blasted off at 8:10 am from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in Shanxi province, and soon placed three Tianping 3-series satellites into their preset orbit.

据公司新闻发布，长征六号运载火箭于上午8时10分从山西省太原卫星发射中心发射，采用一箭三星的方式，成功将天平三号卫星送入预定轨道。

The satellites are tasked with a host of missions including calibrating ground-based radars, making radar cross-section measurement and supporting experiments by land-based optical equipment and low-orbit spatial environmental surveyors, according to the release.

该卫星主要用于地面雷达设备标校和RCS测量，并为地面光学设备成像试验和低轨空间环境探测提供支持。

The 29.3-meter Long March 6 rocket model, developed and built by the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology, is capable of placing multiple satellites into various types of orbits.

Yu Huaying, who was accused of child trafficking, was sentenced once again to death on Friday by Intermediate People's Court of Guiyang in Southwest China's Guizhou Province in the first-instance verdict of a retrial.

10月25日，贵州省贵阳市中级人民法院对余华英拐卖儿童案重审一审宣判，对被告人余华英以拐卖儿童罪判处死刑。

Yu was also deprived of her political rights for life, and had her personal property confiscated, per the verdict. According to reports from The Paper, victims and their relatives, including Yang Niuhua and Chen Jianghai, attended the hearing to listen to the verdict.

余华英被判处剥夺政治权利终身，并没收个人全部财产。据澎湃新闻报道，杨妞花、谌江海等被害人及亲属到庭旁听了此次宣判。

The court verdict stated that evidence regarding Yu's abduction and trafficking of 17 children are clear. Yu engaged in premeditated child trafficking, seeking opportunities to find children in Guizhou, Yunnan provinces and Chongqing Municipality. After committing the crimes, she quickly transferred the children to Handan in North China's Hebei, where they were sold through intermediaries. The means of committing the crimes were highly consistent, and through repeated trafficking over a long period of time, a complete criminal chain of child trafficking was formed.

法院判决书称，余华英拐卖17名儿童证据确凿。余华英有预谋地拐卖儿童，在贵州、云南、重庆市等地流窜，物色合适的孩童进行拐卖，得手后迅速将被拐儿童带至河北省邯郸市，通过中介将其转卖。其作案模式高度一致，通过长期多次拐卖儿童，形成了拐卖儿童的完整犯罪链条。

The evidence in the case confirmed that Yu played a pivotal role and was the principal perpetrator and should be punished according to all the crimes she participated in, per the court.

One person has died and 49 people have become ill following an E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald's Quarter Pounder hamburgers, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Tuesday.

当地时间10月22日，美国疾控中心表示，因食用麦当劳“足三两”汉堡引发大肠杆菌感染事件，已致49人患病，1人死亡。

Initial investigations have suggested that the slivered onions served on Quarter Pounders are a "likely source of contamination," according to the CDC, which cited the Food and Drug Administration.

McDonald's said it would stop using the onions, and has taken Quarter Pounders off the menu at restaurants in several state.
