一季度中国GDP同比增长5.3%

China's GDP expands 5.3 pct year on year in Q1

China's value-added industrial output, an important economic indicator, went up 6.1 percent year on year in the first quarter of this year, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed Tuesday.

国家统计局4月16日发布一季度中国经济数据。数据显示，一季度，全国规模以上工业增加值同比增长6.1%。

By category, output of the manufacturing sector grew by 6.7 percent. The high-tech manufacturing sector registered a growth of 7.5 percent, accelerating by 2.6 percentage points from the fourth quarter of 2023.

分门类看，制造业增长6.7%。高技术制造业增加值增长7.5%，比上年四季度加快2.6个百分点。

In March, the value-added industrial output increased by 4.5 percent year on year.

3月份，全国规模以上工业增加值同比增长4.5%。

From January to February, major industrial enterprises nationwide realized total profits of 914.1 billion yuan (about 128.7 billion U.S. dollars), up 10.2 percent year on year.

1-2月份，全国规模以上工业企业实现利润总额9141亿元，同比增长10.2%。

Tuesday's data also showed that China's gross domestic product grew 5.3 percent year on year in the first quarter of the year.

数据显示，一季度国内生产总值同比增长5.3%。

China's national security organs have commended and awarded 86 individuals for their contributions to safeguarding national security, an official statement said on Monday.

据4月15日的官方声明，国家安全机关表彰奖励了86名为维护国家安全作出贡献的个人。

The awardees had reported clues and circumstances suspected of endangering national security to related authorities through online channels or offered tip-offs in person and had assisted in following up, said the statement.

声明称，获奖人员通过国家安全机关网络渠道或到国家安全机关当面举报等方式反映危害国家安全的可疑情况和线索，并积极配合后续工作。

They have played an indispensable role in spotting, preventing, combating, and punishing activities endangering national security and safeguarding China's national sovereignty, security, and development interests, it said.

China launched a series of global consumption events on Saturday at the fourth China International Consumer Products Expo in Haikou, capital city of south China's Hainan Province.

4月13日，第四届中国国际消费品博览会在海南省海口市举行，中国推出了一系列全球消费活动。

Lasting from April 13 to 18, the expo will host over 4,000 brands from 71 countries and regions, which are expected to showcase their novel and upmarket products for global consumers, according to the organizer.

据主办方介绍，本届博览会将从4月13日持续到18日，吸引了来自71个国家和地区的超过4000个品牌参展，这些品牌将向全球消费者展示他们新颖的高端产品。

Ireland is the guest of honor at this year's expo, with a dedicated exhibition venue showing the country's scientific and technological innovation, education, investment, tourism and culture.

Chinese vlogger banned for fabricating story of student losing homework in Paris

A Chinese internet influencer, ThurmanMaoyibei, has been administratively punished for fabricating an incident involving a Chinese primary school student traveling in Paris, France, purportedly leaving his winter vacation homework to attract viewers on social platforms, the Hangzhou police announced on April 12.

4月12杭州警方通报，网红Thurman猫一杯因捏造“中国小学生寒假作业丢巴黎”事件吸粉引流而受到行政处罚。

Several Chinese social media platforms including Sina Weibo, WeChat and Douyin have banned her account.

涉事博主新浪微博、微信、抖音等多平台账号被封禁。

ThurmanMaoyibei, the 29-year-old female internet influencer, surnamed Xu, is from Hangzhou, has more than 10 million followers. On Feb 16, she posted videos related to "finding a first-grade student named Qin Lang's winter vacation homework in Paris" on social media platforms, quickly attracting widespread attention online.

29岁的徐姓女网红Thurman猫一杯来自杭州，拥有超过1000万粉丝。2月16日，她在社交媒体平台上发布了“在巴黎捡到一年级学生秦朗的寒假作业”相关视频，迅速在网上引起广泛关注。

The next day, a person surnamed Yang from Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, impersonated "Qin Lang's uncle" in the video's comment section to attract more attention and spread rumors, triggering a nationwide search for "Qin Lang."

On Feb 19, Xu once again posted a video claiming to have "contacted Qin Lang's mother."

Following an investigation, the police in Hangzhou found that Xu and her 30-year-old colleague, surnamed Xue, had fabricated a series of videos and purchased winter vacation homework books online, to attract viewers, which has caused bad impact. The Hangzhou public security authorities have imposed administrative penalties on the two individuals, and the company involved.

经过调查，杭州警方发现，为吸粉引流，徐某某与同事薛某（男，30岁）在网上编造了一系列视频，网购寒假作业本，造成恶劣影响。杭州公安机关已经对徐某某、薛某及二人所在公司作出行政处罚。
