China's gross domestic product (GDP) posted a growth of 5.2 percent year on year in 2023, higher than the annual target of around 5 percent, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed Wednesday.

国家统计局17日公布数据显示，初步核算，2023年全年国内生产总值比上年增长5.2%，超出了全年经济增长5%的目标。

The country's GDP reached a record of 126.06 trillion yuan (about 17.71 trillion U.S. dollars) in 2023, the NBS data showed.

据国家统计局数据，2023年国内生产总值达126.06万亿元，再次刷新纪录。

Despite external pressure and internal difficulties, China has successfully achieved the major targets set for 2023 and recorded a rebound and improvements in the economy, Kang Yi, head of the NBS, told a press conference.

国家统计局局长康义在新闻发布会上表示，2023年我国顶住外部压力、克服内部困难，国民经济回升向好，2023年主要预期目标圆满实现。

In the fourth quarter, the Chinese economy expanded 5.2 percent year on year, and the country's economy grew 1 percent quarter on quarter, according to the NBS.

China launched cargo spacecraft Tianzhou-7 on Wednesday night to deliver supplies for its orbiting Tiangong space station, according to the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA).

据中国载人航天工程办公室介绍，我国于1月17日晚发射了天舟七号货运飞船，为在轨运行的天宫空间站运送物资。

The Long March-7 Y8 rocket, carrying Tianzhou-7, blasted off at 10:27 p.m. (Beijing Time) from the Wenchang Spacecraft Launch Site in the southern island province of Hainan, the CMSA said.

17日22时27分，搭载天舟七号货运飞船的长征七号遥八运载火箭，在我国海南省文昌航天发射场点火发射。

After about 10 minutes, Tianzhou-7 separated from the rocket and entered its designated orbit. Its solar panels soon unfolded. The agency declared the launch a complete success.

约10分钟后，飞船与火箭成功分离并进入预定轨道，之后飞船太阳能帆板顺利展开，发射取得圆满成功。

Wednesday's launch is the first mission of China's manned space project this year. It is also the 507th mission of the Long March rocket series.

Tianzhou-7 will adopt a new mode of rendezvous and docking yet to be verified in orbit, which is expected to give better play to the guidance, navigation, and control systems of the spacecraft, according to Li Zhiyong, a researcher at the CAST.

航天科技集团五院专家李志勇表示，天舟七号将采用我国在轨验证的新的交会对接模式，有望更好地发挥航天器的制导、导航和控制系统的作用。

Tianzhou-7 is the seventh cargo craft developed by the CAST. "As an improved fully-sealed cargo craft, it has the largest cargo transport capacity, the highest cargo-delivery efficiency, and the most complete in-orbit support capability in the world," said Li.

天舟七号是由航天科技集团五院抓总研制的第七艘货运飞船。据李志勇介绍：“作为一种改进的全密封货运飞船，天舟七号是世界现役货物运输能力最大、货运效率最高、在轨支持能力最全的货运飞船。”

North China's Tianjin Port has launched a new direct shipping route to facilitate cherry imports from Chile, marking the first direct shipping service for Latin American cherries to the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, said the port authorities.

据天津港官方消息，天津港正式开辟了智利车厘子进口直航新航线，标志着京津冀首条拉美车厘子直航快线成功开通。

A container vessel loaded with over 2,000 tonnes of Chilean cherries arrived at Tianjin Port on Tuesday evening, marking the maiden trip via the new service.

Another two ships carrying over 5,800 tonnes of cherries and other seasonal products are expected to dock at the port within the next seven days.

Thanks to the new route, the cherries are expected to reach the fruit and vegetable wholesale markets in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei first.
