At least 73 people were killed in Ishikawa prefecture after a series of earthquakes struck Japan on Monday, NHK reported Wednesday.

A magnitude-7.6 earthquake struck the Noto region in Ishikawa Prefecture on Monday afternoon, prompting people in western coastal areas to flee to higher ground as tsunami waves swept cars and houses into the water. Thailand will permanently waive visa requirements for Chinese citizens starting March 1, announced Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin on Tuesday.

泰国总理赛塔1月2日表示，泰国将自2024年3月1日起对中国公民实施永久免签政策。

During a press conference after a cabinet meeting at the government house, Srettha said Thailand had previously granted a temporary visa waiver status for visitors from China, which was set to end on Feb. 29, 2024. After negotiations with related Chinese authorities, the Thai government has now opted to adopt a permanent visa-free policy for Chinese citizens from March.

赛塔当天在总理府参加完内阁会议后，在发布会上表示，此前已对中国公民实施了入境临时免签政策，于2024年2月29日结束。泰国政府一直与中国相关部门积极协商，最终决定自2024年3月1日起对中国公民实施永久免签政策。

The Islamic State (IS) terrorist group on Thursday claimed responsibility for two deadly bomb blasts in the southeastern Iranian city of Kerman.

Lee Jae-myung, the leader of South Korea's main opposition party, was stabbed in the neck on Tuesday, according to the police and live-streamed TV footage.

Mr. Lee, the leader of the Democratic Party, was visiting the southern port city of Busan when an unidentified man stabbed him in the neck with a knifelike weapon, according to the footage. Mr. Lee, 59, was leaving through a crowd of reporters and supporters when the attack happened.
