Hospitals in Northwest China's Gansu province are currently administering treatments to a total of 784 people injured in the 6.2-magnitude earthquake that jolted the province at 11:59 pm Monday, claiming 113 lives, according to a press conference held on Thursday.

据12月21日举行的新闻发布会，中国西北部甘肃省18日晚11时59分发生的6.2级地震已造成113人死亡，784人受伤，受伤人员已全部收治到医院。

In the past few days, 21 medical teams have been swiftly dispatched to 35 affected villages to conduct door-to-door visits, said Bai Yuping, deputy director of the provincial health commission.

甘肃省卫生健康委副主任白玉萍表示，过去几天里，21支医疗队迅速被派往35个受影响的村庄挨家挨户开展医疗救治工作。

A total of 28 national and provincial-level mental health experts have rushed to Gansu to offer psychological counseling to hospitalized patients and their companions, the families of the victims, and those affected by the earthquake, including disaster relief workers, Bai said.

China and the United States led with 291 and 246 companies respectively, in a global cheetah index, a list of the world's start-ups founded in the 2000s and most likely to become unicorns within five years, according to the Hurun Research Institute.

胡润研究院发布的《2023胡润全球猎豹企业榜》显示，中国和美国分别以291家和246家位列榜单前两位。该榜单列出了全球成立于2000年之后，五年内最有可能成为独角兽企业的公司。

It was the first time Hurun, a global research, media and investments group, launched the cheetah index on a global level, which found 747 cheetahs in the world, based in 198 cities from 34 countries and regions.

这是胡润研究院首次发布“全球猎豹企业榜”，该榜单在全球34个国家和地区的198个城市找到了747家猎豹企业。

On average, such companies were set up in 2016, not yet listed on a public exchange and most likely to go unicorns with a valuation of $1 billion within five years, according to the institute.

劳荣枝被执行死刑

Lao Rongzhi, a woman who was convicted of murder, robbery and abduction, was executed on Monday, according to China's Supreme People's Court (SPC).

近日，最高人民法院对劳荣枝故意杀人、抢劫、绑架死刑复核一案依法作出裁定，核准劳荣枝死刑。12月18日，劳荣枝被执行死刑。

According to the SPC's statement, from 1996 to 1999, the convict conspired with her then-boyfriend in committing several robberies, abductions and murders in four provinces. Seven people died as a result of these crimes.

最高人民法院复核确认：1996年至1999年间，被告人劳荣枝与其情人法子英在四省共同实施几起抢劫、故意杀人、绑架，共致7人死亡。

The SPC said in the statement that Lao's crimes exhibited extreme brutality and malice, and caused severe consequences. It noted that the verdicts reached at the first and second instance trials of Lao's case were appropriate, as they were based on sufficient evidence and were made following legal judicial process.

劳荣枝犯罪情节特别恶劣，手段特别残忍，主观恶性极深，后果和罪行极其严重。第一审判决、第二审裁定认定的事实清楚，证据确实、充分，定罪准确，量刑适当。审判程序合法。

Lao was arrested in November 2019 after being on the run for some 20 years using pseudonyms. In September 2021, the Nanchang Intermediate People's Court sentenced Lao to death, a verdict which Lao later appealed. In November 2022, the Higher People's Court of Jiangxi Province upheld the death sentence after completing the second instance trial of the case.

案发后，劳荣枝使用化名潜逃20年，于2019年11月被公安机关抓获归案。2021年9月，南昌中级人民法院判处劳荣枝死刑。劳荣枝不服，提出上诉。2022年11月，江西省高级人民法院对劳荣枝进行二审公开宣判，维持原判。
