The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)announced on Wednesday to add Spring Festival, social practices of the Chinese people in celebration of traditional new year to the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

12月4日，联合国教科文组织宣布，将“春节——中国人庆祝传统新年的社会实践”列入人类非物质文化遗产代表作名录。

The decision was made at the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage held in Asunción, Paraguay.

该决定于巴拉圭亚松森召开的联合国教科文组织保护非物质文化遗产政府间委员会第19届常会上通过评审。

To date, China has 44 items inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list, ranking first in the world.

Drawing inspiration from Chinese traditional culture, the mascot resembles the character "si" or "巳" in oracle bone script, which stands for snake in the Chinese zodiac. It's cute and full of ancient charm.

该形象从中华传统文化中寻找设计灵感，整体造型参考甲骨文中的“巳”字，代表中国的生肖蛇，憨态可掬又富有古意。

With the theme of "Year of the Snake, Keep Your Spirits Awake," the vibrant "Si Shengsheng" evokes a sense of "Ruyi," the Chinese concept of expressing the hope for wishes to come true.

以“巳巳如意，生生不息”为主题，“巳升升”恰似中国传统的如意纹样，寓意事事如意。

In Chinese, the "bat" has the same pronunciation as "blessing." Therefore, with the bat pattern on its forehead and a "longevity" knot at the tip of its tail, the mascot represents both blessings and good luck.

在汉字中，“蝙蝠”的“蝠”与“祝福”的“福”同音。所以，从它头部的蝙蝠装饰到尾巴点缀的寿字盘长结，寓意“福从头起，尾随如意”。

The features of "Si Sheng Sheng" are also deeply rooted in Chinese tradition. The design of its eyebrows and eyes is inspired by the feathered pattern and the "chen" (臣)character motif found on the bronze snake-shaped vessels unearthed at the Sanxingdui Ruins site in southwest China's Sichuan Province. The "chen" character motif also appears widely on bronze and jade wares in the central plains, symbolizing the inclusive and diverse nature of Chinese civilization. The mascot's back is adorned with intricate patterns of Jingtailan, symbolizing "endless vitality," while floral filigree work outlines begonia, magnolia, peach blossom and peony, symbolizing "the return of spring."

“巳升升”的形象深深植根于中华传统文化。“巳升升”的眉眼取自四川三星堆遗址出土的青铜蛇形器的歧羽纹、“臣”字目纹，彰显着中华文明多元一体、兼收并蓄；身上由景泰蓝工艺刻画背部缠枝纹，寓意“生生不息”，由花丝镶嵌工艺勾勒出海棠、玉兰、桃花与牡丹，寓意“春回大地”。

Chiung Yao, or Qiong Yao, real name Chen Che, was born in 1938 and resided in Taiwan.

While waiting for a new government to be formed, Macron asked Barnier to lead a caretaker government to handle current affairs, said the Elysee in a press release.
